Michelle Obama Writes Kind Note to Greta Thunberg After Trump Slam

On Thursday, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was named Time Magazines Person of the Year. It was a remarkable accomplishment for the 16 year old who began her mission by protesting outside the Swedish Parliament calling for action on global warming.

The recognition of the teen, though, seemed to stick in the craw of President Donald Trump who mocked her on Twitter. Thunberg then received a nice message of support from former First Lady Michelle Obama who encouraged her to keep it up.
Trump takes the cover of Time Magazine very seriously. Prior to being named the Person of the Year in 2016, he was revealed to have hanged fake Time covers in the halls of his Doral Golf Club.
When it was revealed that Thunberg would be honored on Thursday, Trump couldn’t help but insult the teen. He wrote on Twitter, “So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!”

The 16 year old took the insult in stride. She changed her Twiter bio to read, “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”
She also received kind words from the former First Lady. Michelle Obama tweeted to her, “don’t let anyone dim your light. Like the girls I’ve met in Vietnam and all over the world, you have so much to offer us all. Ignore the doubters and know that millions of people are cheering you on.”
