Mellissa Carone Announces She is Running for Office in Michigan
Rudy Giuliani had a number of embarrassing moments during his fight to overturn the election for Donald Trump. He began the attempt by holding a press conference at a landscaping center next to a sex shop. At one hearing, he audibly farted multiple times while making his case.
But, perhaps Giuliani’s most humiliating moment was introducing the world to Mellissa Carone. Carone, a supposed witness to election fraud, argued with Republican officials and appeared to be drunk.
Notoriety came quick for the Republican witness as Saturday Night Live featured her on a skit that very weekend. And now Carone is trying to turn that notoriety into a seat in the Michigan State Legislature.
The Detroit News reports:
“Carone, a 33-year-old Republican, is planning to run for the 46th District seat in Oakland County, which is held by Rep. John Reilly, R-Oakland Township, according to a filing with the Michigan Secretary of State’s office. Reilly can’t run for reelection because of term limits. However, the district could look different in 2022 because an independent commission will redraw legislative boundaries before the next election based on new U.S. Census Bureau data.”
Carone has also created a Facebook page dedicated to her run for office. She describes herself as a, “Candidate for State Representative District 46. Conservative, Strong focus on election reform.”
