Mel Brooks Endorses Joe Biden: ‘I Like Joe. Joe Likes Facts. Joe Likes Science.’
Mel Brooks, the comedic genius behind screwball classics like Spaceballs and History of the World, Part I, made his first ever political endorsement for president on Wednesday.
Brooks, 94, is voting for former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee.
Brooks urged voters to back Biden in a video posted to Twitter by his son, Max.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which has snuffed out 222,000 American lives because of President Donald Trump’s denial of science and inability to learn, is the most important issue for Brooks.
“I’m Mel Brooks, and behind me you see my son and my grandson, and they can’t be with me – why?” Brooks said. “Because of this coronavirus, and Donald Trump isn’t doing a damn thing about it.”
Even amid an ongoing national tragedy, Brooks delivered a positive and upbeat message, peppered with empathy and hope, through his beloved lens of dry, Jewish wit.
“So many people have died, and when you’re dead you can’t do much. So I’m voting for Joe Biden. I like Joe. Why do I like Joe? Because Joe likes facts. Joe likes science. Joe will keep us going. Take a tip from me – vote for Joe,” Brooks said.
At the end of the video, Brooks, his son, and his grandson leave together to vote.
