Meghan McCain Accuses Mary Trump Of Being “In It For the Money”
Things got heated during a segment on “The View” between host Meghan McCain and her guest, author Mary L. Trump. Mary, the niece of Donald Trump, has set publishing records with her tell-all about her famous family, “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man”.
“People are accusing you of just trying to make money,” McCain, the daughter of John McCain, said to Trump, who holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
McCain went on to explain that she hates tell-all books by family members because she had the experience of having them written about her and “they were all lies.”
Unlike her famous uncle, Mary Trump remained unflappable and merely replied, “Well, you’re entirely entitled to your opinion…I’m not some stranger here, I’m his niece.”
Mary Trump pointed out that if money was truly her only motive, she could have written such a book years ago. “We’ve all seen how whistleblowers fare in this administration,” Trump said. “I would much have preferred not to do this, but I felt it was extremely important that the American people have all the information they need in order to make an informed decision.”
McCain has been a panelist on The View since October 2017, often stirring up controversy and inviting intense criticism. It should be noted that she is married to Ben Domenech, the publisher of the rightwing website The Federalist, and quite often their talking points end up getting presented as factual arguments by McCain during various segments.
Mary L. Trump’s book has set publishing records since its early release on July 14th, selling nearly a million copies in just its first week.
