McEnany: Being Off Social Media has Been “Freeing” For Trump

Following the insurrection he inspired on the US Capitol, Donald Trump was banned from Twitter. For a man who was hoping to stay in control of the Republican party, this was a devastating blow. The social media service allowed Trump to immediately respond to any event or slight.

Former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany now works for Fox News. One of her jobs over the last 5 years was to paint Trump as a rational person rather than an immature lunatic. This was the tack she took during a recent interview she had with Stuart Varney. She told the host that Trump is not bothered by the Twitter ban, in fact, she said, he finds it refreshing.

McEnany claimed, He said it was kind of freeing not to have Twitter. He had a lot of time on his hands. So I think he’s doing just fine without social media.”

The former press secretary also slammed Biden for not having regular press conferences like Trump. Of course, most presidents responded mainly to questions mainly through their press secretaries. The Trump White House held less press briefings than any administration in recent history.

“I think his staff does not have faith that he can stand at the podium and have a press conference the way President Trump did many times,” the Fox analyst claimed. I don’t think this is President Biden saying, ‘I don’t want to do this.’ I think it’s those around him recognizing when he does speak, it doesn’t always turn out so well, like calling Republicans ‘Neanderthals,’ as he did recently in the Oval Office.”
