Nancy Pelosi recently made the decision to open an impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump. The choice was popular with Democratic congresspeople as a majority of lawmakers supported the decision. There is also increasing from support from Americans with some polls showing a majority of them in favor of Trump’s impeachment.

An impeachment, vote, however would be difficult to pass through the senate. The Republicans control the body and no GOP lawmakers have shown any willingness to vote against the President. In a recent ad, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told the nation that impeachment would stop with him.
During the ad, McConnell solicits donations for his race against Democrat Amy McGrath. The Senate Majority Leader tells voters, “Nancy Pelosi’s in the clutches of a left wing mob. They finally convinced her to impeach the president. All of you know your Constitution. The way that impeachment stops is a Senate majority with me as majority leader.”
The ad ends with McConnell saying, “But I need your help. Please contribute before the deadline.”
The ad also features captions that hammer home McConnell’s message. One caption reads, “Your conservative Senate Majority is the ONLY thing stopping Nancy Pelosi from impeaching President Trump. Donate & help us keep it!”
Another caption takes a shot at Adam Schiff who heads up the House Intelligence Committee. “Your conservative Senate Majority is the ONLY thing stopping Nancy Pelosi from impeaching President Trump,” the ad reads. “Donate & help us keep it!”
McConnell faces a strong challenger in McGrath who ran for a congressional seat in 2018.
