Matt Gaetz’s Ex-Girlfriend Testifies In Sex-Trafficking Case Against Him

The case against Matt Gaetz for allegedly sex-trafficking an underaged teenager is moving forward it seems, as the ex-girlfriend who has been seen as the key witness against him testifies in Federal court.

The allegations against Gaetz initially rose out of an entirely separate case — and now his friend and political ally Joel Greenberg is awaiting sentencing on six charges, including child sex trafficking, after he pled guilty and took a plea deal that included a promise to cooperate with feds by providing information for additional investigations.

Gaetz seemed clearly upset about Greenberg’s cooperation, even complaining openly about “FBI snitches.”

However, according to NBC, he may be even more worried about what his ex and another potential witness have to say about him. In fact, he’s potentially added an obstruction of justice charge, because of a call he reportedly made to the two of them, which he is accused of secretly recording.

The witness, who remains unnamed in news media for her safety and privacy, testified before a grand jury on Wednesday, and CNN reports that she’s considered particularly relevant because she’s linked to Gaetz during the time period when he’s accused of taking a 17-year-old girl across state lines for sex.

Gaetz is not currently offering public comment on the matter, but he has tried to spin the entire matter as an ‘extortion attempt‘ against his father, and when he’s spoken about it publicly before, he’s made the error of revealing matters to the public that weren’t previously known, such as that allegations included photos of Gaetz with child prostitutes.
