Matt Gaetz is the Latest Trump Loyalist to Come Down With COVID-19
Republicans haven’t taken COVID-19 very seriously. This was the case when the pandemic broke in March. That was even the case after the president and the First Lady were diagnosed with the coronavirus in early October. The Amy Coney-Barrett superspreader event resulted in a number of White House officials contracting the illness.
Unsurprisingly, Chief of Staff Mark Meadows revealed that he had recently had a positive test. Meadows has regularly flouted social distancing rules and at one point refused to conduct an interview because a reporter was wearing a mask. And now, Matt Gaetz has a positive test.
Despite the fact that the president may not know who he is, the Florida congressman has remained one of Trump’s biggest supporters. He gained infamy for threatening Michael Cohen the day before Cohen was set to testify to congress.

Politico reported this morning, “Another High-profile member of the president’s circle tested positive: GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida told multiple people on Capitol Hill and in the White House that he too had contracted the virus. Gaetz and his staff did not reply to a request for comment.”
Not only does Gaetz hail from a state that doesn’t take the virus seriously, he doesn’t either. Back in March when the virus was raging across the country, Gaetz appeared at a congressional meeting in a gas mask.
