Mario Murillo Says That Believing Donald Trump’s Lies Is Easier Than Accepting Joe Biden’s Victory

Mario Murillo, a right-wing evangelical supporter of ex-President Donald Trump, said last Friday that he refuses to believe that the American people are “stupid” enough to have voted to elect President Joe Biden.

Instead, Murillo insisted Trump’s lies about voter fraud and election theft are “easier” to believe and therefore they must be true.

“You have one of two choices when you look at Biden, and the best answer is that it’s fraud that put him in there,” Murillo said on the Truth Unveiled YouTube program. “Because the other one is that America is really stupid, and I don’t really want to face the fact that America is stupid.”

America is not stupid – at least, most of it.

“How can America decide to put a man in office when the economy was doing great?” Murillo asked.

Because it was not. Next came some Trump talking points which smart people know are not true.

“When our stature in the world was being elevated, when China pushed back on our deal [?], when Europe was starting to pay their fair share of NATO, and we looked at it, and this man got the highest percentage of minority votes of any president that was ever Republican,” Murillo continued.

That last part is true, but Biden got more, and Murillo is incapable of processing it.

“He got 12 million more votes than Obama did when Obama was reelected. And it’s so much easier to believe it’s fraud. It goes down easier. I can swallow that,” Murillo said.

And therein lies the crux of right-wing mentality – that whatever is easier to believe must be the truth – which is not how things work.

“Because otherwise,” he added, “I have to believe that Americans are idiots and that they would willfully put themselves in a position where a career politician with a rap sheet that absolutely is unbelievable is actually our president.”

Does he know Donald Trump?

“It’s easier just to believe the truth, which is something nasty was done to us.”

Conservatives such as Murillo need to understand that truth is neither easy nor hard – it just is. And as they said in 2016, “you lost, get over it.”
