Maher: Trump is the New Butterball at the Thanksgiving Table

It is November and that means Americans will soon be getting together with their families for Thanksgiving. And it is the time of the year when people argue with their family members about current events.

There is plenty to discuss this year; wars in Ukraine and Gaza, infighting in the Republican party, the economy and culture war issues. But the main topic as always will be Donald Trump, who may be President or who may be in prison by this time next year.

Bill Maher discussed the phenomenon Trump and how families might talk about him during the holiday.  He advised during his new rules segment,  "Thursday is Thanksgiving, the cherished yearly celebration when distant friends and scattered family members gather together to fight about Donald Trump. The other Butterball."

The HBO host continued:

"But not just Trump will also argue about abortion and critical race theory and guns in prisons and schools. And this year, we’re fighting about Israel. But here’s the thing. You’re not actually legally obliged to have an opinion."
