When Joe Biden first began talking about his American Rescue Plan, it had broad support among all Americans. A year after COVID first hit American shores, people of all political persuasions needed help getting back on their feet. The GOP, though, ignored the needs and wants of their constituents and went to work attacking the bill. Paul Gosar was one of these Republicans who railed against the bill. Yesterday, however, the Arizona congressman boasted about the funding that was hitting one of the towns in his district.
Gosar said in a statement earlier this week, “I am pleased to announce that the City of Kingman will receive this critical funding for economic relief related to operational costs for cleaning and sanitizing the Kingman Airport to combat the spread of COVID-19. This funding is essential to maintaining safe and reliable air service to the community.”
The Republican, though, didn’t only vote against the American Rescue Plan twice, he also attacked it over Twitter. Back in February, Gosar tweeted, “This bill is not about COVID relief. It’s about funding Democrat’s pet projects. The American people should be furious.”

Gosar is not the first and will not be the last Republican to take credit for a bill he voted against. Expect plenty more of that over the course of the next year.
