Longtime Republican Clint Eastwood Swaps Out Trump for Bloomberg

There are few stars in the world in movies or film that are willing to tell people they are Conservatives. Clint Eastwood isn’t one of them. The actor and director appeared at the 2012 Republican National Convention in support of then candidate Mitt Romney.

Eastwood also supported Trump during his 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton. That won’t be the case in 2020. The Hollywood legend recently said that he favors former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg this time around.

The actor was never all-in on Trump but did compliment him during a 2016 interview. According to Eastwood, Trump resonated because, “secretly everybody’s getting tired of political correctness, kissing up. We’re really in a p—y generation. Everybody’s walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist.”

But he doesn’t think the Trump is the man for the job anymore. He said in an interview with the Wall St. Journal he wished the President would act, “in a more genteel way, without tweeting and calling people names. I would personally like for him to not bring himself to that level.”

When asked who he thought was the best candidate for 2020, Eastwood says, “The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there.”
