Liz Cheney Announces She is Backing Colin Allred Against Ted Cruz

During a Friday appearance, former GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney revealed that she will be supporting Democratic senate candidate Colin Allred in his race against Ted Cruz.

No one would ever imagine Liz Cheney as anything other than a Conservative. That doesn't mean that she is willing to put up with people like Donald Trump in her party. In addition to supporting Kamala Harris in her race against Trump, Cheney announced another endorsement on Friday.

Appearing at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin, she told the assembled crowd, "I want to say specifically, though, here in Texas, you guys do have a tremendous, serious candidate running for the United States Senate.

Cheney continued:

"Oh, well, it’s not Ted Cruz, but Colin Allred is somebody I served with in the House, and somebody who really, when you think about the kind of leaders our country needs, and going to this point about, you know, you might not agree on every policy position, but we need people who are going to serve in good faith. We need people who are honorable public servants and in this race that is Colin Allred so I’ll be working on his behalf."

It didn't take long for Allred, who is polling close to Cruz, to acknowledge the endorsement. The Democrat responded, "Liz Cheney is a patriot who continuously puts country over party because she believes in the importance of protecting our democracy. I am so honored to have her support. In the Senate, I will work across party lines to get things done for Texas."
