#LittleMarco Ad by #RetireRubio Super Pac Goes Viral, Surpasses 1 Million Views
New Super PAC “Retire Rubio” Hits Ground Running With Viral Ad Exceeding 1.1 Million Views
CORAL GABLES, FL — Hours after Joe Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election, a group of Florida and national Democratic consultants launched a new super PAC aimed at defeating Republican U.S. Senator Marco Rubio in 2022. Called “Retire Rubio,” the Super PAC wasted no time once the presidential race was called and is already up with a website, over 16,600 followers on Twitter, and a powerful new online video branding Rubio as, “Little Marco,” a label coined by the outgoing Republican President, Donald Trump.
In only a few days, the “Little Marco” ad has gone viral, receiving over 1,100,000 views online.
Retire Rubio was formed in part by Florida Democratic strategist, Ben Pollara. The group’s goal is, in Pollara’s words, is “to singularly focus on defeating this weak, sad, disappointing and absent Senator in 2022.”
Retire Rubio’s first ad, titled “Little Marco”, also features Donald Trump’s questioning of Rubio’s electability as well as former Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s skewering of Rubio’s absences in the U.S. Senate.

Pollara has a long history of success in statewide campaigns in Florida. He recently managed the successful initiative to raise Florida’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2026 as well as Miami Rep. Nick Duran’s reelection to a third term. Pollara was previously a Senior Advisor to Ag Commissioner Nikki Fried’s 2018 campaign and the strategist who passed medical marijuana in 2016.
Upon launching Retire Rubio, Pollara added, “Marco Rubio has an appalling history of hardly ever showing up for work – and of siding with Wall Street, corporate polluters, big sugar and the NRA – over the people of our state. Retire Rubio’s chief objective is to focus like a laser on Marco’s failures and to ultimately defeat him in 2022. Marco Rubio’s staff are already spreading wild conspiracies about our effort because they’re terrified about Little Marco’s radicalism and absence being exposed.”
In addition to Pollara, Retire Rubio is being advised by rising star in Democratic congressional campaign circles, Nick Merlino. A Miami native, Merlino just managed one of the most competitive congressional campaigns in Texas in 2020 and is a veteran of Florida’s medical marijuana campaigns.
Dave Jacobson, a former CNN political commentator, and Mac Zilber, both Democratic ad makers and co-founders of the award-winning political media firm J&Z Strategies, will serve as Retire Rubio’s media team.
Retire Rubio is also partnering with MeidasTouch, a leading progressive super PAC that produced over 140 videos in its effort to help defeat Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
