2020 is a big year politically, not just for President Trump and his possible Democratic opponents, but also for many U.S. Senators and Senate candidates.  In 2020, there are 33  U.S. Senate seats up for grabs, including 21 seats currently held by Republicans.  One such seat belongs to Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.

However, according to 43-year-old Democrat Jaime Harrison, who has all but officially announced his candidacy to take on Graham in 2020, “It’s not Lindsey Graham’s Senate seat. That Senate seat belongs to the people of South Carolina, and we are going to quickly take it back.”

This week Jaime Harrison sat down with KrassenCast for an exclusive interview.  Episode 6 of KrassenCast is now available on iTunes and Youtube, as well as other podcast services and in the video below:

Harrison’s biggest qualm about Lindsey Graham is the fact that he constantly contradicts himself, and changes his opinions on matters in a way that seems to simply suit himself best.

“Lindsey Graham is a chameleon,” Harrison told KrassenCast. “Whatever will keep a microphone and camera in front of Lindsey Graham, is whatever Lindsey Graham will say, do, and become in order to keep those things right front and center in front of him.”

Harrison then went on to talk about stories he has heard from Republican colleagues over the years, which would seem to help corroborate this belief that Graham doesn’t actually have a moral compass that directs him where to go.

“A former Republican told me that when Lindsey Graham first ran for the House of Representatives, they said Lindsey would knock on somebody’s door and say, ‘My name is Lindsey Graham and I believe what you believe,'” Harrison explained. “He had no idea what the person believed, but if that is what he needed to say in order to win, then that’s what he did. If that’s what he needs to say in order to stay in power, that’s what he will do.”

While Harrison hasn’t officially announced his candidacy, all indications are that he will do so in the coming weeks.  He truly believes that he has what it takes to reclaim the the Senate seat for the people of South Carolina.

“Expect a fight,” Harrison told KrassenCast.  “We are gong to take it to Lindsey Graham.  We aren’t going to be nasty.  We are just going to lay out his record.  Lay out his rhetoric, and allow people to see that there is either something going on mentally, that [he is] just some transformed person. Maybe it’s a reality version of ‘The Invasion of the Body Snatchers,’ but there is something fundamentally wrong.”

Harrison says that the biggest difference between him and Graham is the fact that he is ‘grounded and committed to fighting for all of the people of South Carolina, not just a select few.’

While Harrison has not transitioned his exploratory committee into an official Senate campaign quite yet, he did tell KrassenCast that he hopes to do so “very soon”.
