Lindsey Graham Says He’ll Take DNA Test To ‘Beat’ Warren Over Who’s More Cherokee
Sen. Lindsay Graham believes he’s more Cherokee Indian than Senator Elizabeth Warren and the Senator tells Fox & Friends that he’ll take a DNA test to prove he can “beat” her.
“I’ve been told that my grandmother was part Cherokee Indian, it may all be just talk, but you’re gonna find out in a couple of weeks because I’m gonna take this test,” he said.
Graham’s DNA promise arrives one day after Warren shared the results of her own DNA test which “strongly support[s]” her claims of some Native American ancestry.
President Trump has repeatedly called Warren “Pocahontas” after she initially claimed to have at least some Indian heritage in her immediate family.
Trump at one point said he would donate $1 million to the charity of her choice if she took a DNA test. Following Warren’s DNA test results, Trump denied he ever made such a comment, although his lie was quickly exposed from public comments he had made.
Graham is treating the Cherokee heritage claims as a joke, saying he “wants a casino and a million bucks.”
The entire situation has drawn a quick rebuke from Cherokee Nation which said on Monday that such tests make a “mockery out of DNA tests” and “dishonor legitimate tribal governments and their citizens.”
Individuals who honor and celebrate the Cherokee Nation with deep familial ties to the community tend to have well-documented proof of their Native American heritage.
