George Conway, attorney, husband to KellyAnne, and anti-Trump activist, got a Tweet-lashing from the president overnight. Conway is part of the Lincoln Project, a movement to “defeat President Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box,” and the latest ad the group has released seems to have hit a nerve with the president. Trump blasted the organization as a whole, and members individually, on Twitter, calling them losers,

Project Lincoln released this ad Monday, riffing off Reagan’s “Morning in America,” and calling out Trump for his initial downplaying of the SARS-CoV2 virus, and the resulting 60k+ deaths.

“Under the leadership of Donald Trump, our country is weaker, and sicker, and poorer…..If we have another four years like this, will there even be an America?”

Sometime late Monday night into the first hour of Tuesday morning, Donald Trump must have seen the ad, and he turned to Twitter to vent his spleen. At about a quarter to 1 on the east coast, he went off in a four-tweet rant, hammering at the Lincoln Project and its members. He specifically lashed out at George Conway, calling him KellyAnne’s “deranged loser of a husband,” and “Moonface.”

For their part, the creators of the ad didn’t seem too sorry to be the target of a Trump tweetfest — they (and those like-minded) responded in tweets thanking him for the extra exposure for the video, calling out his late-night behavior, mocking, and promising more.

George Conway dropped several hints that there are more ads coming and that Trump isn’t going to like them.

He even parodied the President’s attempt to demean him with a facial slur.

Trump’s midnight rant failed to contradict or belie what Lincoln Project co-founder Jennifer Horn says is the point of the video:

The Lincoln Project video highlights the effects of President Trump’s failure as a President and how he’s left the nation weaker, sicker, and teetering on the verge of a new Great Depression. In a time of deep suffering and loss, Donald Trump continues with his failed leadership and his inability to put the country before himself.

By morning, Trump was tweeting more normally, praising the re-opening of the country, rising oil prices, snd highway construction, as though the overnight rantfest had never happened. Meanwhile, the Lincoln Project’s ad continues to get additional traffic and attention driven by the President’s response.
