Lincoln Project and MeidasTouch Team up To Canvass Georgia Ahead of Jan 5th Runoff Election

With two weeks to go until the Georgia Senate runoff election, The Lincoln Project and MeidasTouch are coming together to raise funds for canvassing efforts in the Peach State.

Control of the Senate is on the line January 5th, when Georgians will vote to fill both of their state’s Senate seats. The Lincoln Project and MeidasTouch are supporting candidates Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock by raising funds and assisting with safe on-the-ground canvassing to ensure all voters are aware of the upcoming election and the power of their vote. Canvassers are being paid $15 per hour and will be provided with PPE.

“Georgians turned out in huge numbers in November to remove Donald Trump from the White House. Now, we’re asking them to do it again to remove Senators that enabled his malicious and reprehensible behavior,” said Fred Wellman, Senior Advisor for The Lincoln Project. “We understand that people are worn down from an ongoing pandemic and having a President, who couldn’t care less, which is why we’re working with MeidasTouch to keep the fight going through January 5th. It’s important to all of us that the work is done not just well, but also safely, which is why we’re asking for help to support canvassers while they do their part.”

Efforts will be focused in the Forsyth, Hall and Cherokee County regions of Georgia with an initial goal of reaching 20-30,000 households. With nearly 1.5 million votes already cast, the hope is to match or even surpass turnout from the November general election, solidifying Georgia’s place as an electoral powerhouse.

“Georgians mobilized in the face of unprecedented obstacles to help flip the state blue for Joe Biden, and we’re excited to help them do it again,” said Ben Meiselas, of MeidasTouch. “Our efforts in Georgia are focused on encouraging tired voters to go out and make a difference, not just for them and their neighbors, but the entire nation. The stakes could not be higher. These dedicated canvassers have only two weeks left to remind voters throughout Georgia about this critical opportunity to replace two of America’s most corrupt Senators and save democracy.”
