Limbaugh on Trump’s Scarborough Murder Tweets: He’s Just Having Fun
Twitter has been under fire from all sides of the political aisle this week. First, many left-leaning politicians and pundits demanded that the website remove Donald Trump’s tweets where he hinted that MSNBC host Joe Scarborough had committed murder.
On Wednesday, the social media giant drew the ire of Trump himself after fact-checking some of his tweets. The website, however, has still done nothing about the Scarborough tweets. While most have found Trump’s messages hard to defend, Rush Limbaugh was more than up to the task.
Limbaugh said that Trump’s accusal of Scarborough isn’t based on new information. “Do you think Trump cares whether Scarborough murdered anybody or not? No, of course he doesn’t care! So why is he tweeting it? Well, because it’s out there. He didn’t make it up. It’s long been out there that this death is that something suspicious about it.”
The radio host then made the argument that the President is making the claims just to trigger liberals. He continued, “So Trump is just throwing gasoline on a fire here, and he’s having fun watching the flames, and he’s having fun watching these holier-than-thou leftist journalists react like their moral sensibilities have been forever rocked and can never recover.”
Some conservatives, though, have been willing to call Trump out on the tweets. Mitt Romney wrote this morning, “I know Joe Scarborough. Joe is a friend of mine. I don’t know T.J. Klausutis. Joe can weather vile, baseless accusations but T.J.? His heart is breaking. Enough already.”
