“Let’s see those bone spurs” Says Vietnam Vet and Former US Senator
This week has been a baffling one for Republicans as they try to figure out a way to respond to a series of repeated attacks from President Trump on former Senator John McCain.
McCain, who passed away in August, continues to face attacks by the President on a number of issues, ranging from his vote against the GOP’s repeal of ObamaCare, to his involvement with the Steele dossier. Trump appears to be so consumed by Mr. McCain, that even seven months after the former Senator and Vietnam hero’s death, the president continues vicious attacks on the man.
Last night former Senator and Vietnam veteran, Bob Kerrey, joined Anderson Cooper on Anderson Cooper 360 to discuss the president’s attacks on John McCain. Kerrey had some very poignant comments for Mr. Trump.
“Mr. President, Get your feet x-rayed and let’s see those bone spurs,” Kerrey suggested. But when he says he’s not my kind of guy, because he went to Vietnam, because he was flying combat missions and got shot down, was held as a prisoner. That’s not your kind of guy? Who is your kind of guy? Your friends who falsified their records so they didn’t have to go? I think that’s the answer. I think he sees all of us who went to Vietnam as fools.”

Yesterday during a speech at a Lima Army Tank Plant in Ohio, the president renewed his one-way feud with the deceased war hero. “I gave him the kind of funeral he wanted which as president I had to approve. I don’t care about this, I didn’t get thank you, that’s OK,” Trump said.
While much of the GOP has remained quiet following these renewed attacks on the man who was once seen as the leader of their party, Sen. Johnny Isakson from Georgia lashed out at the president calling his attacks “deplorable” .
