Legendary Democratic Strategist Joe Trippi To Join the Lincoln Project as Senior Advisor
The Lincoln Project today announced legendary Democratic political strategist Joe Trippi will join its leadership team as Senior Advisor. Trippi, a constant innovator in political communications and once heralded on the cover of The New Republic as “the man who reinvented politics,” provides a new and different perspective to the work of The Lincoln Project heading into the 2022 midterm elections.
Joe Trippi brings to The Lincoln Project over four decades of experience — having begun his career working for Senator Ted Kennedy in 1979, going on to work for Walter Mondale, Dick Gephardt, and several presidential campaigns. Trippi’s work as Campaign Manager for Howard Dean’s 2004 upstart campaign for president changed the way modern presidential campaigns are run. He has been a political strategist and consultant to successful gubernatorial campaigns and US Senate and House campaigns, including the 2010 comeback campaign of Governor Jerry Brown in California and Senator Doug Jones’s upset victory in 2017 to become the first Democrat to win a US Senate seat in Alabama in 25 years.
Today, marking the occasion, Trippi penned an op-ed in USA Today entitled “I’m joining the Lincoln Project to make sure Republicans don’t win Congress in 2022,” in which he argues: “This is not about policy or petty politics or our individual histories and past partisan fights. It’s about the future of our democracy and, as Lincoln’s guardians, making sure it survives. That is why, today, I am joining the Lincoln Project in this cause.”
“The folks at The Lincoln Project have been on the front lines, leading the most important fight we’ve faced in a generation: Ending Trumpism,” said Joe Trippi. “During my career in Democratic politics, I have beaten and been beaten by Republicans — but it was not until the Republican Party of Donald Trump that I felt the outcome of an election could have consequences for democracy itself. I am proud to serve as Senior Advisor for The Lincoln Project and ready to help shape the strategy for our mission ahead.”
“Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or Independent political strategist, you know and have studied the work of Joe Trippi,” said Lincoln Project co-founder Reed Galen. “Joe’s legendary status in the political space and unparalleled experience innovating — indeed changing the face of modern politics — makes him an invaluable resource for our work here at The Lincoln Project.”
The Lincoln Project is a group of dedicated Americans who worked to defeat Donald J. Trump and will continue to fight on behalf of American democracy.
