Lauren Boebert’s Shooter’s Grill Ordered To Pack Up & Move Out

Lauren Boebert’s restaurant, Shooter’s Grill, is going through some things — again. This time, it seems the restaurant will be kicked out of its current location, and it may be shutting down for good.

According to the Daily Beast, Boebert’s landlord has decided not to renew the restaurant’s lease — and a source close to the owner says this is for moral reasons, though it’s not clear whether that would be about the promotion of gun culture, other issues with the restaurant itself, or a broader statement on Boebert and her politics overall.

Boebert has acknowledged that the restaurant could be forced to close by the end of August, but there are reports that it could actually be much sooner — within the next two weeks. Boebert has denied this. She’s said that she and her husband are “at peace” with closing the business, but also claims that she’s considering buying the whole building herself, to prevent the restaurant from being shut down.

Shooters Grill was previously shut down in 2020, the Denver Post reported, when Boebert’s food license was yanked over her refusal to follow health orders that temporarily barred in-person dining.

Boebert, who was on the campaign trail at that time too, was able to reopen shortly thereafter, when outdoor seating was provided. She took the opportunity to paint this as a battle she’d won for freedom.

The restaurant also surfaced in Boebert’s political life last year, when, as Forbes reported at the time, she was accused of improper use of campaign funds. She submitted filings admitting she had used campaign funds “in error” to pay rent and utilities, and stating that the funds had been reimbursed. Filings indicate the money was sent to someone who shares an address with Shooter’s Grill.
