Lauren Boebert Whines About Metal Detectors at ‘Fort Pelosi’

Speaking as part of a panel at the Conservative Political Action Conference’s annual convention on Saturday, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) complained about metal detectors that have been placed throughout the United States Capitol in the wake of the January 6th insurrection.

Boebert, one of the loudest pro-gun members of the 2020 freshman class of lawmakers, also jabbed at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who was targeted for assassination on that dark winter afternoon.

“Speaker Pelosi has called us the enemy within. There’s metal detectors. I am there to defend our Second Amendment rights. This isn’t about attacking my gun; this is talking about taking your gun and I will stand up for your God-given rights every single day,” Boebert said.

“In Washington DC, I wouldn’t be surprised if we start quartering soldiers in the committee hearing rooms,” she continued.

“There are plenty in the parking garage at ‘Fort Pelosi.’ Maybe we could unreasonably start seizing and searching members of Congress. Oh wait. We’re already doing that on the House Chambers. Yes, yes. We are. With the metal detectors and all that,” said Boebert.

“I cannot wait until they take that gavel from Speaker Pelosi in 2022,” she added.

Then, former Georgia Republican State Representative Vernon Jones shared his dismay over a bill proposed by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) that would block firearms sales to would-be terrorists:

Well, what’s the definition of domestic terrorist? Does it mean that Vernon Jones, if I go to the United States Capitol, and I want to protest peacefully, now I’m under terrorist watch, and I haven’t done anything wrong? Wait a minute, something’s not right. So what is a terrorist? You and me could be a terrorist in their definition, and that legislation doesn’t define what a terrorist is.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation defines “domestic terrorism” as “violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.”

That is an apt description of the siege on the Capitol on January 6th.

“They want us to be called domestic terrorists and be put on lists,” Boebert declared later. “Well then, aren’t we all domestic terrorists?”
