Lauren Boebert Faces Investigation After Claiming Enough Campaign Mileage To Circle The Planet

Lauren Boebert has adjusted mileage reimbursement claims after becoming the subject of an ethics complaint, but the state of Colorado is still moving forward with an investigation. The PAC that filed the initial ethics complaint is also making additional allegations, and passing on others from members of the public.

The New York Times reports that Colorado officials are now opening an investigation into longstanding allegations that Boebert profited by falsely inflating the mileage she traveled for her campaign, cashing checks totalling over $22k in funds — an amount the paper points out equates to over 38k miles — “well more than 24,901-mile circumference of the planet.”

Even though Boebert later amended the statements, saying that part of the money was not for mileage but other expenses, she still claimed more than $17k in mileage reimbursement.

The PAC that filed the complaint, American Muckrakers, has been digging up dirt on other candidates (Madison Cawthorn, for example) too — although at this point, they hardly need to do any searching, since people close to these politicians are happy to hand over inside info.
