Laura Ingraham Says Men Who Planned to Kidnap Whitmer Were Anarchists, Not Right Wingers

In September, Christopher Wray told the House that right wing, white supremacist terrorism makes up the bulk of the FBI’s caseload. This was apparent again on Thursday when the bureau arrested 13 men who had planned to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Fox News often downplays the reality of right wing terrorism. A year ago, Tucker Carlson told viewers that the white supremacy problem was “a hoax.” And on Thursday night, Laura Ingraham parroted these views. The Fox host claimed that the men who attempted to kidnap Whitmer weren’t right-wing, they were actually anarchists.

Ingraham began, ” Now they’re trying to blame Trump for a handful of Michigan militiamen who were allegedly planning to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer? Listen to this. This is a nut nut nuts situation.”

The controversial host continued:

“Never mind the fact that these lunatics look like they’re anarchists and not right-wingers. These folks somehow managed to skirt any culpability for stoking the violence and the riots that destroyed our cities. But now Trump is to blame for a couple of fools, criminals in Michigan? That’s like if Biden is responsible for this assault that we’ve seen on cops. The left has encouraged the disrespect of any and all authority, especially the President.”
