Colin Kaepernick was a star for the San Francisco 49ers, making the Super Bowl in his first full season as a starter. The quarterback was rewarded for his play with a $100 million-plus contract in 2014.

In 2016, Kaepernick began to protest police brutality by kneeling on the field during the national anthem. Following the season, the quarterback became a free agent. Despite his track record of success, no team offered him a contract.
Now in 2022, the 34-year-old quarterback is still being blackballed by the NFL. This week, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis said that he would welcome the player with open arms.
During an NBC Sports special, Davis remarked, “I believe in Colin Kaepernick. He sacrificed a lot of the things that he could have been doing in his life to get a message across about police violence and equity and inclusion in America. I stand by that.”

The Raiders owner continued, “If our coaches and general manager want to bring him in or want him to be the quarterback on this team, I would welcome him with open arms.”
At the moment, it does not seem that the Raiders have any plans to sign Kaepernick. Starter Derek Carr is signed to a long-term contract and the team recently signed Nick Mullens to serve as Carr’s backup.
