Larry Hogan: I Am Personally Offended By Racist Attacks Against Kamala Harris

During a Thursday night interview with Fox, Maryland Senate hopeful Larry Hogan said that he is personally offended by attacks on Kamala Harris's race.

For several years, Larry Hogan was a popular Republican governor in the heavily blue state of Maryland. Term-limited out of the governor's mansion, he is now running for a senate seat. His popularity in the blue state only goes so far as his opponent Democrat Angela Alsobrooks is considered the heavy favorite.

Hogan is not a typical Republican and he was among the first elected officials to criticize Trump when he claimed that Kamala Harris "turned black." When asked about the comments by Neil Cavuto, he responded, "I just really think we've got to focus on the issues and kind of avoid all of this gender-race kind of wild attacks."

The Republican candidate continued, "It's not helpful to be shrinking the tent and alienating swing voters and turning people off. You can't just keep playing to the base and keep expecting to win elections."

At this point, Cavuto jumped in to ask Hogan about some of Trump's other attacks, such as the one against Republican Governor Brian Kemp.

Hogan who has grandchildren of color, explained, "Well, first of all, for attacking Kamala Harris for whether she's Black or Asian or what she is — I was personally insulted by that. What kind of signal does that send to them?"
