Kinzinger Coy On Whether or Not Jan 6th Committee Will Subpoena Ginni Thomas [VIDEO]

One of the two Republican members of the January 6th Committee has vowed to “get to the bottom” of the events surrounding the Capitol insurrection at the US Capitol, but is so far refusing to reveal whether or not the Select Committee intends to question Ginni Thomas, wife of the US supreme court justice Clarence Thomas, over reports of her urging the White House to overturn Donald Trump’s election defeat.

During an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) refused to confirm or deny the existence of text messages Ginni Thomas is reported to have exchanged with then-White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, although he didn’t deny the Washington Post’s and CBS’s joint bombshell announcement last week that they obtained copies of the texts from materials submitted to the congressional committee by Meadows.

Kinzinger said of potential witnesses being summoned to give evidence to the committee: “We’ll call in whoever we need to call in.” But he added that the Committee is absolutely on track to get the information they’re seeking. “Was there an effort to overturn the legitimate election of the United States? What was January 6th in relation to that? And what is the rot in our system that led to that and does it still exist today?… We are going to get to the bottom of this,” Kinzinger promised.

But that doesn’t address the issue of Ginni Thomas, nor how much her husband might have known about what she was doing in the days leading up to the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Chairwoman of the Senate Rules Committee and a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee–which oversees the nominations for the Supreme Court–is leading the demands that Justice Clarence Thomas be removed from any cases surrounding the 2020 presidential election, the insurrection and potentially the 2024 presidential election, should Trump run for re-election. But others are saying Clarence Thomas needs to either resign or be impeached.
