Kevin McCarthy Schedules Vote to Dump Liz Cheney in Propaganda Letter to GOP
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) sent a letter to his GOP caucus on Monday informing them that the vote to remove Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) from her position as their Conference Chair will take place this Wednesday.
National Republicans have designated Cheney as their mortal enemy because she voted to impeach former President Donald Trump for inciting the January 6th insurrection at the United States Capitol and has subsequently refused to peddle his lies about the 2020 election having been stolen from him.
“It had been my hope that our driving focus would be taking back the House in 2022 and implementing our Commitment to America. Despite the mainstream media working overtime against us, I believe we still have a great chance to do so. Unfortunately, each day spent relitigating the past is one day less we have to seize the future,” McCarthy wrote in a letter to his colleagues that was obtained by The Hill.
In other words, McCarthy wants everyone to forget that he and his follow GOP lawmakers were complicit in Trump’s scam.
“This is no time to take our eye off the ball. If we are to succeed in stopping the radical Democrat agenda from destroying our country, these internal conflicts need to be resolved so as to not detract from the efforts of our collective team. Having heard from so many of you in recent days, it’s clear that we need to make a change. As such, you should anticipate a vote on recalling the Conference Chair this Wednesday,” sayeth the figurehead of a party that tried to overturn an election and whose voting base sought to assassinate Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as well as then-Vice President Mike Pence and his family – all at the direction of the president to whom they have pledged blood loyalty.
McCarthy then claimed that the GOP is a “big tent party” that “represents Americans of all backgrounds and continue to grow our movement by the day. And unlike the left, we embrace free thought and debate.”
Recall that Republicans across dozens of states are working tirelessly to deny American citizens – mostly people of color – the right to vote, access to health care, livable wages, legal equality, and the ability to control their own bodies.
“All members are elected to represent their constituents as they see fit. But our leadership team cannot afford to be distracted from the important work we were elected to do and the shared goals we hope to achieve. The stakes are too high to come up short. I trust you agree,” the Republican leader added.
