Kennedy Family Puts Out a Statement Calling RFK Jr.'s Trump Endorsement a "Betrayal'

After Robert F. Kennedy decided to end his presidential campaign and support Donald Trump, several members of his family issued a strongly worded statement.

The Kennedy name is among the most renowned in American politics, certainly regarding the Democratic party. However, Robert F. Kennedy's campaign was mostly built on conspiracy theories and more right-leaning policies.

Initially, Kennedy attempted to run as a Democrat but could not find any traction within the party. He then ran as an Independent but really struggled to find voters interested in his campaign, even with two unpopular candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Kamala Harris' emergence as the Democratic candidate, along with his inability to get his name on multiple state ballots essentially ended Kennedy's campaign. He announced today that he would suspend his campaign today and backed Trump, a move that outraged his family.

A statement signed by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Courtney Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Chris Kennedy and Rory Kennedy read:

"We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise and national pride. We believe in Harris and Walz. Our brother Bobby's decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story."
