Kellyanne Conway Implies Mueller Report may Never be Made Public
Counselor to the President, Kellyanne Conway appeared on Chris Cuomo’s CNN program last night. The pair discussed Andrew McCabe’s new book and its unflattering portrayal of the Trump presidency.
The conversation also moved to New Attorney General William Barr, and the ongoing Mueller investigation. During that segment, Conway dropped a bombshell, hinting that the Mueller report may never be released.
When Cuomo mentioned the report, Conway replied, “Let’s see if there’s a report to even discuss.” Cuomo, incredulous, told her that the American people want to see the report. Conway said, “That’s up to Mr. Mueller.”
Of course, whether the report is released or not is not up to Robert Mueller. The new AG, William Barr will decide if the report is released to the public. Cuomo slammed this point home, saying, “The AG’s going to decide what to do with it, and that’s your boy, so hopefully it’ll come out.”
The report was an important topic during Barr’s confirmation hearing. During the proceedings, he claimed, “I also believe it is very important that the public and Congress be informed of the results of the special counsel’s work. For that reason, my goal will be to provide as much transparency as I can consistent with the law.”
Barr, however, does have discretion over which portions of the report the public will see. Democrats have said that they might choose to subpoena Robert Mueller if the full content of the report isn’t revealed.
