Vice President Mike Pence has kept quiet for the most part when controversies arise surrounding President Trump. He’s stood by Trump in the toughest of times, but he doesn’t voice his opinion as much as many Vice Presidents in the past have.
Mike Pence’s wife Karen also remains out of the spotlight. A new report, however, from Michael Lewis, the author of Moneyball and The Big Short, reveals that Karen Pence did hold a strong opinion of President Trump, at least on Election day 2016.
In the long read article published on the Guaradian, Lewis explains that Karen was reportedly very upset after Trump won the election.
At approximately 1:35 a.m., it had become obvious that Trump had won, and newly elected Vice President Mike Pence went to give his wife a celebratory kiss. Instead of reciprocating the request, Karen Pence instead turned away from him and said, “You got what you wanted, Mike. Now leave me alone.” Then, as Lewis explains, Karen wouldn’t even speak to Donald Trump.
Karen Pence has long been known, like her husband, to have ultra-conservative views. President Trump has been accused on multiple occasions of taking part in activities that should be severely condemned by traditional conservatives.
In April Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics told Town and Country Magazine, that “Karen Pence is much more conservative than Laura Bush. She’s more conservative than Barbara Bush, or, for that matter, Nancy Reagan.”
It’s not hard to imagine why Karen would have a problem working under a man like Donald Trump.
