Kamala Harris Will be Attending Coney-Barrett Hearings Virtually
Nothing is normal in Washington DC right now. Not only does the president have COVID-19, three Republican senators do as well. That fact, however, is not stopping senate majority leader Mitch McConnell from attempting to ram through the Supreme Court nomination of Amy Coney Barrett.
A spokesperson for the California senator said over the weekend, “Due to Judiciary Committee Republicans’ refusal to take common sense steps to protect members, aides, Capitol complex workers, and members of the media, Senator Harris plans to participate in this week’s hearings remotely from her Senate office in the Hart building.”
Not that Harris would be all that interested in pushing through the former Notre Dame professor’s nomination. She tweeted in late September, “Trump’s hand-picked successor to Justice Ginsburg’s seat makes it clear: they intend to destroy the Affordable Care Act & overturn Roe. This selection would move the court further right for a generation & harm millions of Americans. I strongly oppose Judge Barrett’s nomination.”
