Kamala Harris Says She'd Be Open to Placing a Republican in Her Cabinet

In her upcoming interview with CNN, Kamala Harris said she'd be open to it when she was asked if she would appoint Republicans to cabinet positions.

The recent Democratic National Convention was remarkable for many reasons, but one of the most memorable features was that several Republicans spoke out in behalf of the candidate. Republicans, some like Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, who lost their political careers due to speaking out, could eventually earn posts on Harris' team if she was to be elected.

The Democratic candidate sat down for her interview with Dana Bash and was asked about appointing those on the other side to her cabinet.

“I’ve got 68 days to go with this election, so I’m not putting the cart before the horse,” she responded. “But I would, I think. I think it’s really important."

Harris continued:

“I think it’s important to have people at the table — when some of the most important decisions are being made — that have different views, different experiences. And I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican."

There are many Republicans who could be primed for place in Harris' administration including Kinzinger and Cheney. Geoff Duncan, the former Georgia lawmaker, could be another candidate.
