Joe Biden Sits Down With Lester Holt For First Interview Since Trump Rally Shooting

President Joe Biden had already been scheduled to sit down with NBC's Lester Holt at the White House on Monday before Saturday's shooting at Donald Trump's Pennsylvania rally took place, and he kept that on his schedule.

The President is also still scheduled to be interviewed later this week on BET.

As the Secret Service and FBI are still searching for answers, the President will have to navigate Holt's questions about the investigation into what motivated a 20-year-old registered Republican to open fire on Trump during those chaotic moments that took the life of a father who protected his family from the gunfire.

The Biden-Harris campaign temporarily suspended all TV ads and other promotional opportunities. President Biden canceled a planned speech on Monday at the Lyndon Johnson Library in Austin to mark the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, while Vice President Kamala Harris postponed a planned Tuesday stop in Palm Beach, Florida, where she had been expected to talk about abortion.

Now that Trump has made enough of a recovery to attend the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, the Biden-Harris campaign will be able to resume all efforts. Soon after Trump announced JD Vance as his running mate at the RNC, the Biden-Harris campaign sent out an email reminding Democratic voters of just who is officially on the GOP ticket.

A portion of President Biden's interview with Lester Holt is set to air on NBC News at 6:30 PM Eastern and then as a full primetime news special at 9 PM Eastern. It will also be available to stream on the Peacock app.
