Joe Biden's Interview With CBS to Air on Sunday [COMMENTARY]

Still-The-President Joe Biden sat down with CBS News chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa for his first interview since stepping down from the 2024 campaign on July 21st.

The interview will air this Sunday, August 11th, on CBS News' Sunday Morning

President Biden's selfless decision to step aside for the good of the country kicked off the most optimistic and energetic two and a half weeks in recent political history.

Robert Costa has chronicled Joe Biden's political life for a long time. He co-authored Peril with Bob Woodward, a detailed look inside President Biden’s decision to run in 2020.

More recently, Costa had been traveling with the Biden campaign, speaking extensively with the President about the subjects that mattered to him the most and capturing him speaking with his supporters in battleground states.

The end of the campaign saw the President embracing his longtime support of labor unions yet again. UAW released the earliest presidential endorsement in its history after President Biden stood on the picket line with striking auto workers, the first sitting President to ever do so.

UAW has already endorsed both Vice President Kamala Harris and her new running mate, Gov. Tim "Coach" Walz (D-MN).

In a press release, CBS says the one-on-one conversation between the President and Robert Costa, which was taped Wednesday at the White House, focused on President Biden’s decision and his outlook on the country's future under a Harris/Walz administration.

They touched on a range of other topics, including his "reflections on American democracy," according to the press release.
