Joe Biden Assembles Team Of 600 Lawyers To Fight Trump Administration Voter Suppression

Joe Biden says he’s prepared to fight attempts by Donald Trump to suppress voter rights. In fact, he says, there’s a team of 600 lawyers and more than 1,000 volunteers ready to fight for voting rights. Speaking at a fundraiser, he addressed the “very real concern” that Trump would try to use voter suppression techniques to sway the outcome of the election.

Donald Trump has already claimed that the 2020 election will be ‘rigged’ and has railed against the option of mail-in ballots, which he says enable fraud.

Joe Biden has expressed concerns previously that Trump will not accept the outcome of the election if he loses, even to the extent of having to be physically removed from the White House.

However, Politicus USA reports that during a fundraising event, Biden was asked about the possibility of Trump suppressing voter access.

We’re continuing to fight any effort to exploit the pandemic for political purposes, support the countless state and local officials working like hell to make voting safe and accessible for citizens, especially the most vulnerable, or call out local rules that don’t adequately ensure access to vote.

Though Biden has been taking a lead in polls, he has encouraged supporters not to take this for granted, saying that everyone needs to make sure they’re registered, and plan to vote.

He says the attorneys and volunteers will be available in every state, on the alert for any “chicanery” or efforts to prevent access to the constitutional right to vote in the U.S. election.
