Ron DeSantis has risen fast in the Republican party by pushing the dumbest of issues. He is, of course, a COVID culture warrior, but he also pushed the GOP election lie.

The Florida governor recently announced he was creating a Office of Election Crimes and Security. Voting rights advocates say that this could create a way to intimidate voters, but that is clearly what DeSantis is going for here.
During his Saturday show, Jim Acosta had a suggestion for the election force’s first stop. The CNN host told his viewers:
“If Ron DeSantis wants to put that election police force to good use, he might consider sending them over to Mar-a-Lago. You know, just ask a few questions about an attempted coup. Yes, officer Ron, I’d like to report an insurrection, the one on January 6th. But all of this is why the various investigations into Trump’s actions leading up to and during the January 6th attack on the Capitol are so monumentally important right now.”
