Jeff Sessions Responds to Being Called “A Disaster” by Donald Trump
When Donald Trump sought the Republican nomination in 2016, he got a big boost from Jeff Sessions. Sessions, then an Alabama senator, was the first Republican lawmaker to come out in support of Trump. The endorsement lent a fair amount of legitimacy to the businessman’s campaign.
In return for his support, Trump named Sessions his Attorney General. It was all downhill from there. The former senator was unable to prevent the Mueller investigation and the President forced him to resign. Sessions is attempting to regain his Alabama senate seat, but Trump is continuing to punish him by supporting his primary opponent Tommy Tuberville. On Saturday, the senate hopeful responded to criticisms from his former boss.
Trump tweeted over the weekend, “Big Senate Race in Alabama on Tuesday. Vote for Tommy Tuberville, he is a winner who will never let you down. Jeff Sessions is a disaster who has let us all down. We don’t want him back in Washington!”
Sessions answered the tweet, “I’ve taken the road less travelled. Not sought fame or fortune. My honor and integrity are far more important than these juvenile insults. Your scandal ridden candidate is too cowardly to debate. As you know, Alabama does not take orders from Washington.”

The battle between Sessions and Tuberville will be decided this week. Alabama will hold a senate run-off on July 14th.
