Jealous Trump Insults Andrew Cuomo Who Doesn’t Take The Bait

Donald Trump’s coronavirus briefings seemingly become stranger and less informative each day. Monday’s presser featured an appearance by My Pillow founder Mike Lindell. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, on the other hand, has been lauded for his candor and empathy during the crisis.

There have been reports that Trump is furious at the level of praise Cuomo is getting. This jealousy was on full display during a Monday appearance on Fox and Friends where the President attempted to take credit for Cuomo’s high approval ratings. When asked about Trump’s comments, though, the New York governor refused to take the bait.

The Fox and Friends hosts asked Trump about Cuomo’s rising popularity. “One of the reasons he’s successful is because we’ve helped make him successful,” he answered.

Cuomo was asked about the comments later in the day. “I’m not going to get into a political dispute with the president,” he said during his briefing. “I’m not going to rise to the bait of a political challenge.”

The New York governor continued:

“As far as the president’s comment about having a political contest with me, I am not engaging the president in politics. My only goal is to engage the president in partnership. This is no time for politics. Forget the politics, we have a national crisis. We are at war, there is no politics. There is no red and blue, it’s red, white and blue. Let’s get over it and lead by example.”
