JD Vance grew up poor in rural Ohio, surrounded by drug addiction and poverty. His book about his upbringing, Hillbilly Elegy, made him a best-selling author. The memoir was used by pundits to help explain the politics of the rural poor.
Vance has spent the last few years going off the deep end. Once a Trump critic, he is now full-on MAGA and happy to dabble in conspiracy theories. He dropped one of those theories last night, suggesting that Joe Biden is deliberately letting fentanyl into the country to kill Trump supporters.
Vance says Biden is trying to kill MAGA voters: “If you wanted to kill a bunch of MAGA voters in the middle of the heartland, how better to target them and their kids with this fentanyl .. It does look intentional. It’s like Biden wants to punish people who didn’t vote for him.” pic.twitter.com/5Yoh0CA44z

The Senate hopeful told fellow conspiracy theorist Roger Stone:
“If you wanted to kill a bunch of MAGA voters in the middle of the heartland, how better than to target them and their kids with this fentanyl. And the crazy thing is, it’s not just drug addicts who are affected by this, right? I mean of course most of our voters are not people who are suffering from this addiction, but they know a lot of people who are, right? Their kids are affected by it. A lot of grandparents, man, who are taking care of grandkids that they weren’t expecting to take care of because fentanyl killed their children.”
