James Comey Trolls Donald Trump During NPR Quiz Show Appearance
James Comey was fired from his FBI Director position by Donald Trump and since that time Comey has been an outspoke critic of Trump’s policies.
Comey appeared on NPR’s news quiz show “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me” on Saturday night and he used the opportunity to troll the 45th POTUS.
As he chose several wrong answers, Comey quicked that he meant to say he wouldn’t choose the answer. His quip at President Trump’s reversal over Russia hacking immediately drew applause.
Trump on Tuesday said he “misspoke” when he said there was no reason why Russian “would” interfere with the 2016 Presidential election. Trump claims he meant to say “wouldn’t” interfere.
Host Peter Sagal then quipped, “Wait a minute, we have decided to re-open this game.” That joke was aimed at Comey’s decision to re-open the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails just a few days before the November 2016 election.
Comey also joked that he “didn’t want a photo-op with the President,” a reference to the hug he received at Trump’s inauguration. Comey had gone so far as to stand at the farthest distance possible from the President while in the same room.
“There’s no way the man’s getting a hug from me,” Comey told NPR. Unfortunately Trump “grabbed my hand and he pulled in and down.” Comey then reveals that an awkward handshake turned completely strange: “So instead of a hug, the world saw a kiss.”
Comey definitely seems to be enjoying himself, sharing this photo on his official Instagram account:
Comey stepped out of his normal comfort zone this week, urging Americans to vote Democrats into office in November. Comey is a lifelong Republican who appears ready to fully switch sides.
