Ivanka Trump has managed to avoid much of the publicly offensive messaging shared by her brothers, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. but that doesn’t mean she’s not outwardly campaigning against the majority viewpoints held by a majority of Americans. This past week, Ivanka proved that the Trump family is holding strong to their far-right conservative views as she campaigned for Kim Reynolds, Iowa’s stridently anti-choice governor.
Here she was on Twitter :
As the FIRST female Governor of Iowa, @IAGovernor cut taxes, balanced the budget (with a 127 m surplus!) & fostered a pro-growth environment where incomes are rising & unemployment is 2nd lowest in the Country!
Proud to be in Des Moines to support my friend. Vote for Reynolds! https://t.co/dl3Li24Vs4

Reynolds, like her male conservative counterparts, appears to care less about a woman’s choice in her assault on abortion rights. For example, she proudly signed the Heartbeat Bill, which bans abortions at about six weeks of pregnancy — before many women even know they’re pregnant. Exceptions are only made in cases of rape, incest or medical emergency. The law states that doctors must perform an ultrasound and, if they detect a heartbeat, are forbidden from performing an abortion.
Regardless of the vagaries of the law, most legal observers see it as a de facto ban on abortion. An Iowa judge recently granted a temporary injunction and stalled the law from going into effect while a lawsuit challenging the law’s constitutionality is resolved. Judges have taken similar actions in states with similar abortion bans which have proven effective in the fight to slow a conservative march toward’s ripping away the rights of women.
Ivanka has prided herself on being all about empowering women and was supposed to be a check on her father’s extremist sensibilities. But the fact remains that Ivanka has done nothing to stop her father’s assault on women’s rights, and her ringing endorsement of Iowa’s virulently anti-abortion Governor is the icing on the cake.
