Ivanka Trump Complains That Her Deposition Was a Vindictive Waste of Taxpayer Dollars

When Donald Trump leaves the White House in January, he will have a lot of questions to answer about his business dealings. And while prosecutors have to wait on the president, the same isn’t true for his children. While Donald Trump may try to preemptively pardon them, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump will all be facing questions as well.

Yesterday was Ivanka’s turn in the barrel. The president’s favorite child spent 5 hours on Wednesday being probed about the prices being charged at the Trump Washington DC hotel. Today on Twitter, Ivanka Trump complained that investigation is vindictive and a waste of taxpayer money.

The first daughter took to Twitter to complain:

“This week I spent 5+ hours in a deposition with the Democrat D.C. AG’s office where they questioned the rates charged by the Trump Hotel at the inauguration. I shared with them an email from 4 years ago where I sent instructions to the hotel to charge ‘a fair market rate,’ which the hotel then did. This ‘inquiry’ is another politically motivated demonstration of vindictiveness & was of taxpayer dollars.”

While Trump is claiming that a fair market rate was charged, there is evidence that the claim is untrue. According to the watchdog group CREW, the hotel charged, “almost six times the current average cost for the most basic rooms available in the hotel and eight times the current average cost for higher tiered rooms.”
