Ivanka Finally Might Get a Real Job – Ushering Her Father Out of the White House
For the past four years, first daughter Ivanka Trump has carried the title of Advisor to the President, although it’s difficult to put together a list of her accomplishments during that time. On Jan. 20 it could come to pass that she performs her most important act of Donald Trump’s presidency: getting him out of the White House.
As Trump continues his baseless, Quixotic effort to overturn the election and remain in office there has been much speculation about what has to happen if he flat out physically refuses to leave the executive mansion when President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are sworn in. The Daily Beast recently posed that question to Secret Service officials, the heads of federal agencies and military planners. Disturbingly, it turns out that no one really knows for sure.
No one would go on the record to offer an opinion, most likely out of fear of angering Trump. One former Secret Service official, speaking anonymously, described how he would approach the issue. “I’d have a conversation with the chief of staff and then the family, Ivanka, and the other kids, and say, it’s going to be your job to make sure he’s gone.”
Another alternative could be to cut the functionality of the White House out from under the petulant president. “When the staff leaves on Jan. 19, don’t let them back into the complex the next day,” a former administration official said. “He can’t do anything without his staff.” It would be up to the Secret Service to seal off the White House complex.
Lastly, it could be that when Biden finishes taking the oath of office on the west front of the U.S. Capitol shortly after noon on Jan. 20, Trump would be considered a trespasser on White House grounds and would be treated as such by the Secret Service.
