“It Was There For The Taking” Trump Slams GOP Candidate For Not Helping Overturn Election

Donald Trump is making it clear that his endorsement for 2022 races is heavily contingent on a candidate having shown sufficient support for the former president’s efforts to overturn the 2020 outcome. In a statement Tuesday, he made it clear that those who didn’t help him when the election was “there for the taking” won’t get his help now.

Loyalty is everything to Donald Trump — loyalty, that is, not to country or party or humankind, but to him, as an individual. It’s also a very narrow path. He’s already cut off his support of Mo Brooks (R-AL), complaining that Brooks suggested voters focus on upcoming elections, rather than the one Trump already lost, and now he’s lashing out at Bill McSwain, who’s among the Republican candidates for Governor of Pennsylvania. McSwain was the U.S. Attorney for the eastern district of Pennsylvania in 2020, and Trump is upset that he didn’t use his power to help overturn the election when Trump lost in his state.

In a statement published on his website, Trump declared that the election was “there for the taking” and that McSwain had failed to seize the opportunity on Trump’s behalf.

“One person in Pennsylvania who I will not be endorsing is Bill McSwain for Governor. He was the U.S. Attorney who did absolutely nothing on the massive Election Fraud that took place in Philadelphia and throughout the commonwealth…Do not vote for Bill McSwain, a coward, who let our Country down. He knew what was happening and let it go. It was there for the taking and he failed so badly.”
