No matter how wealthy they are, all politicians require an awful lot of donations to run for office. And the higher the office, the more money they need. If they’re running for president the amount only goes up.
And from every indication, Donald Trump plans on running for president again in 2024. As a result, he is actively fundraising years before the election even happens. The emails he is sending to supporters are getting increasingly desperate and aggressive.
A copy of an email sent from the NRCC shared by Andrew Sollender was outright threatening. It read:
“You’re a traitor… You abandoned Trump. We were told you were a tried & true, lifelong patriot. But when Trump said he’d run for President if we took back the House from Nancy Pelosi … You did nothing. Was Trump wrong about you? This is your final chance to prove your loyalty or be branded a deserter. We’re giving you one final chance to stand with Trump. You only have 17 minutes.”

Besides the fact that this kind of email should be illegal, it is also worrying that something like this will work. Trump has had a history of not being careful with the donations of his supporters and this is just one more example of that.
