“I Never Feel Like I’m Being Smacked Down” Peter Doocy Gushed About Jen Psaki For a NY Times Piece

The relationship between White House press secretaries and the press corps is meant to be symbiotic. There are contentious exchanges, sure, but at the end of the day, there is supposed to be a mutual respect.

That line started to blur when Donald Trump took office. Sean Spicer humiliated himself by trying to claim that more people attended his boss’ inauguration than Barack Obama’s. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kayleigh McEnany used their power to belittle reporters and refuse to answer their questions.

Jen Psaki has brought a level of professionalism to the lectern. And while Peter Doocy is often on the receiving end of Psaki’s barbs, there are no hard feelings. In fact, the Fox News reporter gushed about the press secretary for a new piece in the New York Times.

“It never feels like I’m getting smacked down or vice versa,” Doocy told Michael Grynbaum. “I understand why it looks like that, some of the ways that stuff gets clipped, but it doesn’t feel like that in the room.”

The Fox reporter continued, “When I got back from my wedding, she made a point to tell everybody in the briefing room that I just got married. That’s a transcript I can print out and show to my kids one day.”
