How KellyAnne Conway Inspired Project Lincoln’s Targeted Anti-Trump Attack Ads

Kellyanne Conway serves as a counselor to the President of the United States, Donald Trump. Her husband, George Conway, is one of the founders of Project Lincoln, a PAC whose stated goal is to “defeat Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box.” However, it turns out that Kellyanne helped inspire her husband and Project Lincoln in targeting the president.

The relationship between an (apparently) loyal Trump team member and someone who’s working hard to destroy Trumpism has fascinated and confused the public. The NY Times called the pair “the oddest political couple,” and the Washingtonian described them as the couple “most gawked-at.” How their marriage can possibly work under the circumstances has been the subject of news and opinion pieces and broad public speculation.

After Project Lincoln dropped an attack ad called “Mourning in America,” Donald Trump even got in on the speculation, suggesting that Kellyanne had done something to her husband — her “deranged loser of a husband” to cause his anti-Trumpism, and that George was jealous of his wife’s position in the Trump administration.

As RawStory reports, another founding member of the Lincoln Project, Reed Galen, says that Kellyanne did indeed ‘do something’ to her husband — that is, she inspired him.

Apparently, George and Kelyanne were mid-conversation when it hit George that an ad describing Trump as the cause of Americans being “weaker, sicker and poorer” would hit the president hard. Galen explained that the point wasn’t just to make the president mad — “Anybody could do that…the point is to take him off his game and take his campaign off their game, strategically and tactically, so that the Biden campaign and Joe Biden can have the freedom of movement and the green air to do the things that they need to do.”
