Here’s The Bizarre Anime Clip Paul Gosar Doesn’t Want You To Respond To

A significant portion of social media is interaction. Brands and influencers post messages intended to garner responses, and algorithms are designed to show users content they might like — often based on interactions by their contacts. Then there are measures of what different interactions can mean. For example, getting “ratioed” on Twitter refers to getting more responses than likes, suggesting that the majority of people who interacted with your tweet didn’t support its content.

So, with all that in mind, why would a legislator limit who can respond to a tweet?

Representative Paul Gosar tweeted out a video Sunday evening to his followers. It’s a bizarre conglomeration of clips that include Gosar’s head photoshopped onto an anime character as he carries out a physical attack on Joe Biden. The brief imagery from the Attack On Titan series is edited to make Biden larger than life, and depict Gosar in warrior mode.

However, something else adds to the bizarre aura of this ridiculous compilation — the fact that apparently Gosar didn’t want to hear from his constituents after they view it. In fact, he’s limited commenting on the video, so that the only people who can respond are those accounts he follows himself.

Sure enough, the result is the opposite of getting ratioed — after being posted for 18 hours, the tweet has over 20k each likes and retweets, but only a couple of responses, one of which comes from an account named “Paul Gosar Fan.”

Again the question remains — why doesn’t Paul Gosar want to hear what anyone (other than a few nearest-and-dearest fans) thinks of this clip?
